So several weeks back I carefully planted some basil, oregano, and coriander seeds that I got from Garden works on SE Marine Drive in this lovely Ikea planter. And then I waited… and waited… and got all anxious until lo and behold all these tiiiinnneeee little sprouts popped up.
And at this point it looks as if I was WAY too ambitious in the number of seeds I planted because look how crowded they all are, clamoring for sun.
My favorite is the cilantro in the bottom right. It’s already got some miniature leaves on the go. Then there are the unruly marjoram sprouts in bottom center. The rest are a hodge podge of basil varieties from West Coast Seeds’ “Kitchen Basil Blend” ($4.65).
I can tell the Red Rubin variety already. But which ones are Genovese basil and which ones are Cinnamon basil remains a mystery for now.
