I’ve gone past Farfalla countless times, its black and red aesthetic jumping out amidst the gritty gastown surroundings, but have never gone in. Until last week. That makes me an idiot.

This place is a gem. The atmosphere, rich and opulent but luxurious to the point of serenity, is matched by their selection (and presentation) of Hediard teas from Paris. Order a tea service (~$4) from Anna or her daughter Holushka and a fragrant pot of tea will arrive at cool white granite table top served in gorgeous Russian bone china. I went with Spring, a floral black tea imbued with bergamot and marygold flowers, and it made my day.

Also of note: They also serve coffee, pastries and lunch items. And later this summer will be expanding into the private courtyard that flanks their door.

And they have wifi.

And they sell prints by the ever talented Eleanor Grosch of Pushmepullyou design.

Just go already.
