I was recently pleased to visit a favorite Vancouver restaurant, Chambar on Beatty Street. The staff handled me calling 4 times to amend my reservations in a very friendly way, and on arriving we enjoyed some trappist beer at the bar before dinner. After getting seated in their perfectly lit dining room, we tucked in. The Belgian menu at Chambar never fails to excite, and I am personally drawn to their carpaccios. But I went for a delicate plate of pan seared diver scallops, with spiced chorizo, roast hazelnuts and a vegetable jariniere ($15). For the main course, I had a five-spice duck breast, laid out with a trio of accompaniments including truffled goats cheese green beans, orange spiced beets, and a charred focaccia & cherry bread pudding ($29). But it doesn’t matter if you love fish or slow-cooked meats, crave being served a dish in a tagine or just moules frites and a 9% beer in a special glass, I dont think you can go wrong at Chambar.

This place makes me gag with disappointment, the only thing I liked was the lighting. ATITUDE x 10 and OVERPRICED for what ? This place pretends to be European but is not, it is like pub food.

That is a surprising opinion, chambar is one of my favorites and I have always found the staff attentive and the food fantastic. I don’t know if you had a bad night, ordered badly or what, but I have been many times and that opinion has no bearing on any of them. Sorry to hear it!
