Sometimes I enjoy a meal at a restaurant so much that I can never seem to order anything else. Such is the case at the Pair Bistro, an intimate neighborhood bistro located just west of Alma on 10th. My repeated order? Half a dozen fresh oysters, ($2.50 ea) Wapiti Elk Medallions ($24) with a vegetable medley, and a chocolate fondant (to die for). Although the dishes have changed a bit over the years, I find it impossible to steer off this track. The menu’s concept is local ingredients done bistro style, and they have a nice list of wines by the glass. The service is always attentive and my only gripe with the restaurant; they need to dial it down a bit. It is a small room with a small (and somewhat noisy) patio, so be sure to make a reservation.
