I recently stopped to gape through the window of Gastropod, only to realize with shock and horror that it was no more. I went into immediate mourning for their seaweed wrapped and lightly tempuraed salmon served with wasabe creme fresh (I will never be the same). And then I turned to mother internet, who told me that the owners of Gastropod had been planning to open a Thai restaurant, and had sent their sous chef to London to work under David Thomson, the legendary (Australian) Thai chef. When the economy tanked, they decided that comfort food in a recession was a better bet than the avant garde cuisine they were serving, and Maenam ate Gastropod. Now my big question is when do I get to eat at Maenam.
