I have been accused of being coupon phobic, but the idea of pulling out a piece of paper at a restaurant and asking for a discount is really quite beyond me. So I almost gagged when I read that the French Michelin Guide is now offering discounts, which can be redeemed at high-end, and even Michelin star restaurants across europe. Using a coupon, euphemism notwithstanding, for a meal of that level is so tacky that the very idea causes me to lose my appetite. I can just imagine the look on the waiter’s face.
