This is a lost post from late summer 2010. I had the pleasure of attending one of the Market Dinners put on by Edible BC and held in the Granville Island Market after hours. Chef Lee Parsons from Bacchus restaurant cooked table side for a small group and we were encouraged between courses to get up and watch the food being prepared. Just the experience of dining in the market was exciting, but the food and wine soon took center stage. The menu started with a refreshing chilled essence of vine ripened tomato and moved onto an immaculate olive oil poached snowpass coho salmon. Tortellini of grain fed rabbit and roasted bison sirloin served with chanterelles and fava beans were excellent dishes. For desert, we had a decadent Orange and Cardamon Milk Risotto. Wine pairings ranged from Gray Monk Odyssey Brut 2007 and 8th Generation Classic Riesling 2009 through See Ya Later Ranch Rover 2007 and Quail’s Gate Optima 2007. The schedule for 2011 Market Dinners was released in November and will sell out soon!
